CIBC Mellon Names Daniel J. Smith Chair of CIBC Mellon's Boards of Directors

Also adds new Board members David Gillespie of CIBC and Thaddeus Duchnowski of BNY Mellon

TORONTO, Feb. 9, 2018 /CNW/ - CIBC Mellon announced today that Daniel ("Dan") Smith, Executive Vice President, Head of Americas Asset Servicing, BNY Mellon, has been named as Chair of the Boards of Directors for CIBC Mellon Global Securities Services Company and CIBC Mellon Trust Company.  Prior to Mr. Smith's appointment as Chair, he served as Director on CIBC Mellon's Boards.  Mr. Smith assumed his role as Chair on February 1, 2018, replacing Samir Pandiri.

As Executive Vice President, Head of Americas Asset Servicing at BNY Mellon, Mr. Smith leads the Americas region for BNY Mellon's Asset Servicing business.  In this capacity, he manages the U.S. Asset Servicing and Latin America Asset Servicing businesses, and oversees BNY Mellon's interest in the CIBC Mellon Asset Servicing joint venture.  Mr. Smith joined BNY Mellon in 1987 and has held various management positions throughout his tenure with the company.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management from Hartwick College.

CIBC Mellon also announced several new appointments to its Boards of Directors. David Gillespie, Senior Vice President, Capital Markets, Wealth Management Operations, CIBC, has joined as a Director of the Board for CIBC Mellon Trust Company.  Mr. Gillespie is responsible for CIBC's operations functions, supporting capital markets, wealth management, treasury, and commercial and corporate lending.  He joined CIBC in 2006 and has more than 25 years of IT and operations senior management experience.  Mr. Gillespie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba.

Thaddeus ("Thad") Duchnowski, Managing Director, Global Client Management, BNY Mellon, has been appointed to CIBC Mellon's Board of Directors for CIBC Mellon Trust Company.  Mr. Duchnowski joined BNY Mellon in 2000.  In his role at BNY Mellon, Mr. Duchnowski is responsible for developing strategic relationships with Canadian and U.S. banks which include brokerage, wealth management, international and commercial banking affiliates.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Saint Peters College.

In addition to their roles on the CIBC Mellon Trust Company Board, Anne-Marie Dunn, Senior Vice-President, Talent Acquisition and Development, Human Resources, CIBC, and Daniel G. Kramer, Executive Vice President, Client Service Delivery, BNY Mellon, have also been elected to the CIBC Mellon Global Securities Services Company Board.
