Workbench enhancements: more power at your fingertips
In December, CIBC Mellon launched several important enhancements to Workbench. These changes are designed to make it easier and quicker for you to generate, download and distribute reports.
Our recent enhancements include:
Upload trade files
Real Time Custody Instruction Processing now allows you to upload security trade files for your accounts. This new capability will take a formatted CSV (comma-separated values) file of security trades and upload it to our core custody system. This eliminates the need to fax instructions or key instructions manually into Workbench. The file upload capability supports buys, sells, free receipts and free deliveries.
Security token login
In addition to the way you login today, you now have the option to access Workbench with a security token login. This provides you with an extra level of security that combines a personal identification number (PIN) together with a generated one-time passcode. By accessing Workbench through security token login, you will also have direct access to applications that require a secure login such as instruction processing or message centre two-way e-mail. To obtain your security token login, please contact your relationship manager.
Distribute reports via Internet e-mail
Workbench can now distribute reports through Internet e-mail, which does not require the installation of the Workbench Express software. Reports distributed through Internet e-mail will be sent as encrypted PDF or Zip file attachments and will be password protected.
Export all reports within a folder as one PDF file
Workbench will now export, save or distribute all reports in a folder as a single PDF file. The included table of contents will allow you to easily locate and navigate through the various individual reports.
Audited accounting statement package available in PDF
You can now retrieve your audited accounting statements as a PDF report in Workbench. The PDF report is identical to the package of audited statements that you currently receive in hardcopy or on disk. The order of the reports can be customized within the generated PDF statement and within its table of contents.
Reorder or delete reports within a folder
Additional features were added to the report page window that allow you to alter the order of reports as well as delete a report within a folder.
Ease of use enhancements
Several improvements have been implemented within Workbench to enhance your day to day use of the system. These include:
- Time-out - Previously, after 30 minutes of inactivity you were timed-out of Workbench. You will now receive a warning message prior to being timed-out, allowing you to continue your session with a click of a button.
- Performance - Improved response time when accessing reporting menus and parameter pages.
- Hyperlinks - Ability to send messages containing active hyperlinks when using two-way e-mail within the Workbench message centre.
New and enhanced reports
The new “Foreign Exchange Contract Status Real Time” report in the custody transactions folder allows you to view foreign exchange matching for Continuous Link Settlement (CLS) eligible transactions and projected settlements, on a real time basis. This report is an added benefit for managers participating in the CLS process.
Several enhancements were introduced to the following reports:
- The broker commission analysis report in the accounting transactions folder now allows you to specify whether you want the “Detailed” or the “Summary” view of the report.
- The cash ledger statement real time report in the cash folder was enhanced with a new “Funds Type” column in the table view so that you can distinguish cash transactions by type.
- The custody holdings report in the custody positions folder now includes a group parameter that allows you to select either details by status or totals by security.
- The asset detail and asset and accrual detail reports in the accounting positions folder were enhanced to include a ”Percent of Total” column in the table view. In addition, all futures exposure is now reflected under the indicated country and the corresponding cash offset values are now reflected under the appropriate local currency code.
If you would like a demonstration of the new functionality, or would like access to Workbench, please contact your relationship manager.
